Arike Ogunbowale
Arike ogunbowale (born April 2, 1985) is an American professional basket ball player. She is part of the Dallas Wings and the Women's National Basketball Association. She was a college basketball player with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, prior to being selected by the Wings with the fifth overall pick of the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale was born the 2nd of March 1997 in Milwaukee Wisconsin to parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale (26) and Dare Ogunbowale(20) are her siblings. She was the youngest in her family and her parents spoilt her to the max. Gregory, Gregory's father, served in the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale is a highly engaged family. Her mother Yolanda played softball for DePaul as did her brother Dare. Dare plays football. Her aunt used to play volleyball at UAPB as was the cousin Endia Oliver also plays volleyball on the field at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale made the honor roll at her school for three years consecutively. The school also recognized her for her achievements in high school, including various awards. Arike did her graduation from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School which is located within her own hometown. Apart from studying, Arike played three teams on the varsity level while she was at Divine Holy Angels Savior High School. Ogunbowale's outstanding skills led to her school capturing stunning victories multiple times. She has played in an appearance in 73 games and has accumulated 1,477 rebounds as well as 1,477 points during her professional career. Ogunbowale won gold medals at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championships as well as the 2014 FIBA U17 world Championships and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championships. On July 7 2014 she was named to the 2014 USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale was playing her first season at a collegiate level and was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team.
